Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently asked questions about attending Japan car meets, events, and using our platform.
Is TS Japan Tours a tour operator?
Yes, we are a boutique tour company registered in Tokyo in April 2024 focused on car enthusiasts. We started providing Japan car event and meet information from July 2024. We search Japanese social networks for car events happening across Japan, verify, translate and list the information to help you plan your own trips. We can also organize guided tours to car meets or events within a 100km radius of Tokyo.
Do I need a car to attend these events?
It depends on the event accessibility rating. 'Train Access' means it's walkable from a train station. 'Taxi Needed' means a train station is more than a few kilometers away and a taxi may be required. 'Car Required' means it's in a remote location (like a mountain pass or race track) where a rental car is essential.
How do I buy tickets?
We provide links to the official event pages or organizers where available. You should check those links for specific ticketing information. Many local meets are free!
Are the events suitable for children?
Most car shows and daytime meets are family-friendly. However, some late-night meets or noise-heavy racing events might not be suitable for very young children. Always check the specific event details.
I'd like to go to Daikoku Parking Area
Daikoku Parking Area is perhaps the most famous and influential JDM car meet spot in Japan. However, there are some things you should be aware of:
- Daikoku Parking Area (PA) is an expressway rest stop built in 1989. It is a public facility that is open 24/7/365.
- It is only accessible by car. You cannot enter the PA by foot.
- Most meets at Daikoku PA are not organized scheduled meets. Rather, cars come and go at random times. Due to the random nature of the meets, there may not be many cars at the PA on any given day.
- There is an overcrowding issue at Daikoku PA and the authorities often close the PA at night on Fri-Sun.
- We have been visiting Daikoku PA since 1994. Contact us via our Instagram site if you would like to know more or have any questions.
You can also read our full Daikoku Guide for a detailed walkthrough, etiquette tips, and alternatives.
There aren't too many upcoming events?
Yes, event information is often not published by organizers until 1-2 months before the event. We will post updates on our Instagram site if a new event is added to our site. Many events are repeated every year. If you are planning to visit Japan in a certain month, you can try checking last year's event information to get an idea of what might be happening in the future.
What types of events or meets do you list on this site?
We list car events, meets, races, and track days held in Japan that publish their information on publicly available sources and are open to the public. We do not list events that are private such as 'underground meets', invitation-only events, or events where the organizers have asked us not to list on our site. We may also decide that certain events are too challenging to go to and not list them.
Can I submit an event?
Not yet directly through the website, but you can contact us via our social media channels if you know of an event we should list!
