The Beginner’s Guide to Finding Japan Car Meets with DISCOVER JDM

So, you’re planning a trip to the land of the rising sun, and your top priority isn't temples or sushi—it’s JDM culture.

Finding car meets in Japan has historically been a challenge for international fans. Between cryptic social media posts in Japanese and meets with dates written in the Japanese calendar, it’s easy to feel lost. That is exactly why we built DISCOVER JDM.

Here is your step-by-step guide to using our platform to ensure you never miss a rev-limiter or a rare build during your stay.

1. Start with the "Home Page" Pulse

The Japanese car scene moves fast. On our Home Page, the first thing you should check is the "What's New This Week" section.

  • Pro Tip: Organizers in Japan often don't announce smaller meets until 1–2 months in advance. If your trip is still months away, check our Events List constantly. We publish new event uploads on Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok, so please follow us for alerts.

2. Narrow Down Your Search

Japan is bigger than most people realize. Use our search filters on the Events List to stay local:

  • Region: Select "Greater Tokyo" for urban meets or "North Kanto" if you're looking for the legendary racing scenes (like Tsukuba Circuit).

  • Category: Looking for a specific vibe? Use tags like "Classic," "Drift," or "Monthly Meet" to filter out everything else.

3. Build Your Personal Hit-List

Found a meet you love? Use the Favorites (Heart icon) feature. This saves the event to your local browser session, allowing you to build a personal "Car Culture Map" for your trip without needing to sign up for an account.

Going to a meet? Use the "I'm Going" (Flame icon) feature! This signals to the rest of the community which events are becoming the "must-see" hubs for the week.

4. The Golden Rule: Dive into the "Event Details"

The list is just the beginning. Always click through to the specific Event Details page. This is where the vital mission data lives, including:

  • Precise GPS coordinates for your navigation.

  • Detailed accessibility notes (Train vs. Taxi vs. Rental Car).

  • The External Link to the official organizer’s page (X/Instagram) for real-time rain updates.
